Bournemouth are the latest club to be served a winding up order by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. Chairman Eddie Mitchell confirmed to a fans' forum at Dean Court on Thursday night that HMRC was petitioning for the £314,000 it is owed.
Mitchell said that £100,000 of that debt would be paid off immediately.
A hearing has been set at the High Court for March 31.
"When we took on the club six months ago we owed in excess of £600,000 and we've now got that down to £300,000," he told Sky Sports News. "That has been raised purely by initiatives by the club. The club is going completely the right way.
"We are confident by the time the order is issued we will have found the money to clear it."
The club went into administration during the 2007-08, and the subsequent 10-point penalty contributed to their relegation to League Two that season.
