Bournemouth goalkeeper Begovic has Conte dig: Mourinho the best

Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has had a pop at his former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

Begovic left Chelsea for the Cherries at the end of last season.

He took a thinly-veiled swipe at Conte by hailing Jose Mourinho, now of Manchester Unied, as the best manager he has played for.

He said: “The way Mourinho thinks about the game and works with players was incredible to see. I was lucky to play under good managers but I would put him on top of the pile."

Begovic quit Chelsea to move to the south coast after failing to dislodge Thibaut Courtois as their number one, but – despite his Mourinho boast – insists he does not hold a grudge with Conte.

He said: “I don't have regrets. It was a big decision for me to make to go to a club like that and I gave it my best for two years and competed with Thibaut.

“Did I deserve more games? Maybe but I don't feel hard done by. It is part of the business and the manager has to decide. They wanted two top goalkeepers and only one could play."
