Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has warned new teammate Jefferson Lerma he must fight for his place at Dean Court.

Lerma is joining Bournemouth from Levante for a club record fee.

Cook said: “There is a lot of competition for placed. The gaffer has got a very difficult job picking a team for the weekend.

“I think the squad itself at the moment is looking really strong, David Brooks and Diego Rico have come in and done really well.

“Every player in the changing room works really hard to improve and that's why we are unique. We will continually do well with the players we have got and with the players who come in to add to that.

“I am sure Lerma will bring a lot of experience and quality to the team. But for me, it is all about the team continuing to grow and having a good season."
