Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond believes he has an "excellent chance" of signing Portsmouth's Jason Pearce before the season kicks off.

The 19-year-old defender has been training with the squad since the start of the season and has been on good form in the pre-season games he has featured in.

Bond would be keen to bring Pearce in on a season-long loan and he told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: "Jason has done well since he's been here. I remember him from when I was at Portsmouth and Harry (Redknapp) has been keeping me abreast about how he's been doing.

"We've brought him in so we can have a look and him and see how he feels about us and that's were we are at this moment in time."
