Bothroyd confident Man City attacker Bellamy wants Cardiff stay

Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd is confident Manchester City loan signing Craig Bellamy will stay long-term.

The pair know each other from when they were at Coventry 10 years ago - though Bothroyd admits he has taken longer to find his feet than Bellamy, who had spells at Newcastle, Liverpool, Celtic and West Ham before moving to Eastlands.

The striker said: "If I'm being honest, it took me a bit longer to mature than Craig, but now I'd like to think I have done.

"I'm working hard every day and that's with the help of the coaches and the manager.

"I was speaking to Craig and he said he was tired of going up and down the motorway and said he wanted to come back to Cardiff, where his family is. Credit to him, he's at the top of his game but family is the most important thing, especially as he's been on the road for so long.

"Craig's a Cardiff boy. He loves it here and we'd love him to stay here."
