Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic is on the brink of joining Middlesbrough.

Boro have agreed a deal to sign Subotic, subject to a work permit.

The Evening Gazette says the Serbia international has “shaken hands" on a three-year contract, with the transfer fee said to be around £8 million.

The club is also poised to sign Gaston Ramirez, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Riverside last season and was released by Southampton this summer.
