A France side made up of mostly U20 players has defeated the USA U23 side 3-1 in their opening fixture of the 2015 Toulon Tournament on Wednesday.
Three players from Ligue 1 sides were on the scoresheet for Francis Smerecki's les Bleuets who opened their account in the south of France with a comfortable victory over Andreas Herzog's US outfit.
Lyon's Fares Bahlouli, Bordeaux's Enzo Crivelli and Marseille's Stephane Sparagna all scored inside 22 minutes at the Stade Leo Lagrange before Jody Morris pulled one back for the US in the 65th minute.
In the other Group A clash, Holland defeated Costa Rica 3-2 with Ajax winger Anwar El Ghazi scoring once and PSV midfielder Rai Vloet grabbing a brace for the Dutch. Deportivo Sapriss ace David Ramirez scored twice for Costa Rica.
The US next meet Holland in Hyeres on Friday as France get set for their clash with Qatar on the same date at the same venue.
