French club Bordeaux have denied talk they are in pursuit of Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra.

The Algerian has also been linked with a move to Wigan Athletic but it seems almost certain he will not end up at Bordeaux after president Jean-Louis Triaud distanced the club from any potential transfer.

"Someone called me. I don't know if it was the agent of the player, the agent of the agent, or someone else," said Triaud.

"We have had no contact with Rangers. Maybe Laurent Blanc is interested but he hasn't told me."
