Bordeaux reveal approach from Arsenal boss Wenger for Chamakh

Arsene Wenger's interest in Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has been confirmed by the French club.

The Gunners boss has long been an admirer of the 25-year-old Morocco international, who could be available for around £12million, and last month admitted he would be keen to push through a deal should Emmanuel Adebayor leave.

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud said in Friday's L'Equipe: "Wenger actually phoned me. He said to me that he had a list of strikers and that Marouane was on it."

It will be great relieve should Wenger go ahead with his search for an outright striker and any other player that will help strenghten the club.I equally trust his sense of judgement when he decides to buy. It's obvious that if you continue to sell without buying, you will soon run out of stock.
