Bordeaux president Stephane Martin insists there's no bitterness towards Thierry Henry.

The Arsenal legend chose to reject the manager's job at Bordeaux after considering Martin's offer over the weekend.

The president told L'Equipe: "For him too, it was a bet. It is a respectable decision based primarily on a very thoughtful career plan.

"He is a very methodical and passionate person and he is very eager to coach. But he did not want to miss his first experience. The context of uncertainties around the club did not help.

"When you see this from the outside, you can say that this is not the ideal. If everything is not together and you start badly, you quickly end up with a bad coach label stuck on the back."
