Bordeaux option for sacked West Ham boss Zola

Bordeaux are moving for sacked West Ham United boss Gianfranco Zola.

The Daily Mail says the Ligue 1 club have made Auxerre boss Jean Fernandez their No 1 target to replace Laurent Blanc, who will take over from Raymond Domenech as France coach after the World Cup.

However, Fernandez is reluctant to leave his post after qualifying for the Champions League, while reigning champions Bordeaux only managed sixth place this season and missed out on European football.

Jean-Louis Triaud, president at the Stade Chaban Delmas, is determined to do his best to talk around the 55-year-old, but has lined up Zola as an alternative.

The popular Italian is still in dispute with West Ham after being sacked earlier this month, but will be buoyed by the interest.
