Bordeaux do enough to push past Olympiakos

French club Bordeaux have made it through to the final eight of the Champions League with a 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) win over Greek side Olympiakos.

After Bordeaux won the first leg 1-0 away, they had set themselves up for victory and it looked an even stronger prospect when Yoann Gourcuff netted in the 5th minute at the Stade Jacques Chaban Delmas.

But Olympiakos fought back when Kostas Mitroglou equalised in the 65th minute and although the overall score was 2-1, the Greeks were in with a real chance and they needed just another to goal to push into the quarter-finals.

However, Laurent Blanc's men got the cushion they required with two minutes remaining through Marouane Chamakh and eventually overhauled Olympiakos to progress to the next phase of Europe's premier club competition.
