Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc admits he faces a battle to hold onto striker Fernando Cavenaghi.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Tottenham in recent weeks, and has admitted he would be tempted by a move to north London should Spurs boss Harry Redknapp make a bid.
Reports in France suggest the Premier League outfit are lining up a bid of 15.5million euros for the Argentina international, who joined Bordeaux at the start of last year.
"I want to keep my best players. I'd rather keep a player who scores goals than let him go," Blanc told France Football.
However, he added: "But then there's the reality that the coach does not control everything, whether he's at Bordeaux or elsewhere."
