Boothroyd not consulted as Coventry allow Thomas to join Liverpool

Coventry boss Aidy Boothroyd says the decision to let Conor Thomas join Liverpool was made without reference to himself. The 17-year-old academy product signed for the Reds on loan with a view to a permanent move, and Boothroyd claims he had nothing to do with sanctioning the departure of the Sky Blues' brightest prospect.

"The chairman and the board have a talk about what they want to do and make their decision. At the end of it whether you think it's a good decision or a bad decision, it's done, that's it.

"He's gone on loan until the end of the season. There's a loan fee attached and at the end of the season he might come back to us, he might stay at Liverpool or he might go somewhere else.

"If I'm OK with the decision it doesn't really matter, if I'm not OK it doesn't really matter. I'm not going to change it and I'm not going to say that's a wrong decision. You get on with it; you respect the people above you. There's no point crying about it."
