Boost for Cardiff as Jones remains as manager

Dave Jones is to remain as Cardiff City boss following a series of meetings between himself and the club's key figures, reports The Guardian. Jones had been linked with a move away from the Cardiff City Stadium and his future was uncertain following the club's play-off final defeat to Blackpool last Saturday.

The conclusion to a statement on the club's official website read: "During these meetings Dave reiterated his ongoing commitment to the club, and the club to him.

"Dave also presented proposals to club representatives which were accepted by all. As a result dealings will now take place with the aim of producing a squad that will see Cardiff City Football Club again challenge for promotion next season.

"It was further agreed that these dealings will be set in motion against the backdrop of our future success being built on sustainable and strong business foundation. Key stakeholders of the club will now look to implement the proposals in the coming weeks."
