Newcastle United are ready to drop their pursuit of PSG striker Mevlut Erdinc.
The Sunday Sun says they have a £7million bid still on the table, but the deal has collapsed over a bonuses row.
Claims that Newcastle wouldn't match his wage demands are not true - in fact United were willing to hand him a pay rise and guarantees on first-team football.
But the player and his adviser are understood to be due a payment if Erdinc remains at PSG past the August transfer window, causing a major problem for both parties.
That means business is now unlikely to be conducted - forcing the Toon on to one of three remaining targets, all of whom appear to be based abroad.
