Polish legend Zibi Boniek says Arsenal have blundered allowing Wojciech Szczesny to join Roma.

Boniek is hopeful that Szczesny will sign permanently with the Giallorossi.

"Szczesny was number one for the national team, he started the qualifying, then last winter he had a fight with Arsene Wenger and they put him on the bench.

"Then (Lukasz) Fabianski took his place because he played as starter and is now at Swansea City.

"I went Szczesny to continue, even in training with Poland, he makes incredible saves. Also in two months he already speaks Italian, is fluent in languages.

"His future will be even with Roma? Szczesny has a loan for a year, I have no news he will remain, but if all goes well I am convinced that he will be signed by Roma.

"Arsenal made a calamitous mistake sending him away, he is much better than Petr Cech."
