Bolton Wanderers midfielder Matt Taylor admits he's shocked by the slide of former club Portsmouth.

Taylor left Pompey last year and is saddened by the state they're now in.

"It saddens me to see what Portsmouth are going through," he told the Sunday Mirror. "I spent six years there and it was a massive part of my life.

"The fans down there are not stupid, they are proper football fans. This is the first time I have noticed their attendances are down.

"I watched their game against Everton and the camera moved around and I could see empty seats. I have never seen that before, even when we were in the Championship."
