Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba has blamed his inconsistency last season on a lack of self-belief.
"The season has been very up and down for me," he told the Bolton News. "I'm sure people will point out that I have not hit the kind of form I showed in the opening game of the season against Stoke.
"A lot of it is down to self-belief. I am very critical of myself but I am determined to learn from my first season here and come back fresher, stronger and better.
"So long as I stay true to myself and work hard, I am sure I can come back next year and give a better account of myself. I feel I owe everyone that."
