Bolton defender Gary Cahill has revealed for the first time that he never considered a move to Birmingham.
The former England Under-21 international was recently criticised by Blues for delaying his decision on which club to join, and Birmingham are bound to be further irked by Cahill's admission.
"People keep saying that I was going to go to Birmingham myself but I knew all along I would not be going there," Cahill was quoted as saying in the Birmingham Post.
"I knew there was interest but I also knew that there would be nothing better there for me than I had at Villa and that there was no guarantee I would be playing every week.
"I know Liam (Ridgewell) went there and he loves it. He is really happy but for me at this stage of my career I just want to be playing football and Bolton could offer me that."
