Bolton Wanderers signing Gary Cahill's contract carries an £8 million buyout clause.
The Mirror says Cahill joined Gary Megson's club ahead of Birmingham and Wigan last week in a £5m switch from Aston Villa.
And the centre-half demanded that a valuation clause was put into his contract in case a major club comes in for him.
Cahill is so determined to prove he is one of the best defenders in the Premier League that his attitude rubbed off on Bolton and they accepted it as part of the small print.
