Bolton winger Eagles: Man Utd boss Ferguson pushed me to work with Coyle

Bolton Wanderers winger Chris Eagles has revealed how Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson pushed him towards joining Burnley.

Decision day for Eagles came back on July 29, 2008. Ferguson offered him terms to stay at the club he had joined at the age of 14. But a total of just six Premier League appearances were telling him a different story.

"It was so difficult," recalled Eagles to the Daily Mail. "I didn't want to go. But I love playing football.

"So Sir Alex said, 'There is this manager I would love you to meet'.

"He introduced me to Owen Coyle and that was that. I knew then I had met the right person."
