Bolton Wanderers are planning to trump West Brom for Benfica striker Ariza Makukula.
The Daily Star says Trotters boss Gary Megson will now attempt to steal a march on former club West Brom by signing Makukula on loan for the rest of the season.
Makukula, 27, has had a medical with Albion, but Bolton want to hijack the deal.
