Jonny Howson is baulking at signing a new deal with Leeds United.

His failure to commit will concern supporters who fear a repeat of the sagas that saw Jermaine Beckford and Bradley Johnson quit on free transfers to Everton and Norwich respectively during the previous two summers.

Howson admitted to The Sun: "That's only natural due to the ones that have left in the past.

"These days people want to hear answers there and then but sometimes it takes a bit of time.

"I have got until the end of the season for it to get sorted out. We are still in discussions."
