Bolton manager Gary Megson is hoping he can lure Real Madrid midfielder Guti to the club on loan in January.
The 33-year old, who has been at the Santiago Bernabeu his entire career, is currently out of favour under Manuel Pellegrini after a row with the manager and was told he could find a new club.
Guti would cost the Trotters around £2million in wages for half a season but the club believe his experience and class are worth it and a spot in central midfield is there for him.
If Bolton can complete the coup, it will see Guti follow in the footsteps of former Madrid midfielder's Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro who both had stints at Reebok Stadium.
