Bolton striker Makukula would welcome Benfica return

Bolton striker Ariza Makukula admits he fancies returning to Benfica.

"Things haven't happened like I expected, but I don’t feel bad. Football is like that and you have to carry on working,” Makukula told Antena 1.

“Down there [at Benfica] you have good players who play well, like I used to. As far as I’m concerned, I do respect all of them, but I’m involved in another war.”

Regarding a possible return to Benfica, he said: “I am not the one that will make a decision at the end of the season because it doesn’t depend on me.

“Benfica are a great club and I would be proud [to be back].”

He added: “Despite the fact that I haven’t been playing a lot for Bolton, I didn’t start the last two or three games, I am still the same and feel I have settled day by day.

“My objectives are to play and make the most of every minute in order to be called up again.”
