Bolton striker Elmander determined to make critics eat their words

Johan Elmander says his confidence has been boosted with his goal for Sweden this week against Wales.

The Bolton Wanderers striker is determined to make the critics eat their words in the remaining months of the season.

Elmander said: "It will do a lot for me. It is always nice to score because there has been a lot in the press that I am not scoring very much.

"In the beginning it did bother me, but not any more. I am too old to think about it.

"Now I hope I can take it with me back to Bolton and start scoring for them as well.

"In terms of scoring goals it has been a difficult season, but I think I have been playing well.

"But for a striker in the Premier League you always have to score, otherwise people start to say you are not a good striker."
