Bolton Wanderers signing Matty Taylor admits it was difficult to reject Sunderland.
The former Portsmouth wing-back told setanta.com: "Bolton made me feel very welcome, the manager was very welcoming, and the key thing was he wanted me.
"That's not to say the other clubs didn't also show that, but Bolton was right for me.
"The club, the way they conduct themselves and treat their players is fantastic, and Gary (Megson) was integral to that.
"I had a chat with Roy Keane at Sunderland and, let me make this clear, it was not an easy decision.
"Sunderland were very accommodating, it's a great club and I want to thank Roy publicly for his time.
"The main aim at Bolton initially has to be maintaining our Premier League status, and I would like to think I bring experience as I've been in a similar position with Portsmouth in the past.
"I gave my all for Pompey, and the fans gave their all for me. I had fantastic times at Fratton Park but at this time in my career I've just got to get back to doing what I love on a Saturday afternoon."
