Bolton have confirmed that goalkeeper Andy Lonergan will be sidelined for about six weeks.
The 29-year old damaged his knee at training last week and is now recovering from surgery leaving the Trotters without a recognised back-up for number one Adam Bogdan.
"Andy Lonergan unfortunately before the Bristol City game, in a very innocuous training incident, had a cartilage problem," said caretaker boss Jimmy Phillips.
"He had that operated on in London so he's going to be out for, I think, five or six weeks."
