Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden has urged the Scottish Football Association to snap up his younger brother Euan before he slips through to the USA national team.

Aberdeen-born Holden, a former Houston Dynamo star, experienced that fate when Scotland overlooked him and now he is part of the USA's World Cup squad.

But he advised the SFA to go after Euan before the 22-year old makes a similar decision as him to represent the country in which they grew up.

"There was no personal contact between me and the SFA. Paul Dalgish, who was a team-mate at Dynamo, spoke to someone at the association but I didn't' hear anything back," he said.

"The only decision facing me was to play for the United States and that was one I was honoured to take.

"I read something about being watched by Alex McLeish but I don't now if I was ever taken seriously.

"It never gained any momentum so, for me, it was only ever about playing for the United States. Coach Bob Bradley called me up to ask if I was interested and it was a no-brainer.

"Now Craig Levien is saying he doesn'tw want to let players like myself, who are born in Scotland, get away again.

"My brother has been mentioned and he'll soon have a decision to make. He has just signed his first professional contract and has the potential and talent to do something special.

"I will never push him one way or another. I'd love to play with him at international level - and if it's against him I'll give him a good kick."
