Bolton's Holden: No hard feelings with Wolves' McCarthy

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden says there are no hard feelings between he and Wolves manager Mick McCarthy.

After Holden was a key player in Bolton's 1-0 win over the Wolverhampton club in the English Premier League on Saturday, the ex-Houston Dynamo player said things were fine between he and McCarthy - the man who was at the helm at Sunderland in 2005 when things did not work out for the Scottish-born USA international.

"I didn't catch up with Mick but there's no hard feelings," said Holden.

"It didn't work out but I'm grateful for the chance and was part of the club at a time they won promotion. I was never really fit enough to make an impact. We both felt it was best I went in a different direction and it ended up working for the best as I went back to Houston and established myself."

Holden was one of the best players on the pitch in the Trotters' win with curling set pieces and superb crossing, much like that of former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham, who he says he somewhat modeled his game on.

"I grew up a United fan and I suppose he's someone I have always modelled myself on," Holden added.

"Obviously, Beckham was someone whose workrate and delivery I really admired. The technical aspect of my game's something I pride myself on, staying after training and doing set-pieces. Those little things can make a big difference in a game."
