Bolton's Coyle to Celtic's Lennon: Refs aren't against you

Bolton boss Owen Coyle says he symptahises with Celtic's Neil Lennon but suggests his notions of referees being against him are way off.

The Hoops manager confronted match official Euan Norris after his side were dumped out of the Scottish Cup when Heart of Midlothian were awarded a late penalty in the semi-final on Sunday and later Tweeted that he believed the decision was 'personal'.

Speaking at the Scottish Football Association Continual Professional Development Seminar, Trotters manager Coyle said he can understand passions running wild when your team gets a bad call but believing there is a personal vendetta against you is nonsense.

"If you feel a decision has gone against you passion can take over," Coyle said.

"We can all do things in the heat of the moment - I've been there. Every manager is passionate about the game.

"But I don't think a referee goes out thinking anything other than to do their best."
