Bolton reject Puygrenier in trial with Burnley

French defender Sebastien Puygrenier is on trial with ChampionshipBurnley this week, two-and-a-half years on from a disappointing loan spell with Bolton. The 29-year-old former Monaco man joined Zenit St Petersburg for £4.5million in 2008 and, although his contract does not expire until the summer, the players' agent Michael Manuello has claimed a release could be arranged for January.

"For him to go to England was very special," Manuello told the Lancashire Telegraph. "But at Bolton it was difficult for him because he was not fit. He wants to show that he can be a success in England.

"He has not played in the last six months so he wants to come and play in the Championship and then maybe he will get a chance in the Premier League.

"I do not know of other clubs at the moment, he is just looking at Burnley. He will train with them for one week. His contract is until July 2012 but it is possible that Zenit will let him go for free, we can negotiate."
