Bolton Wanderers are quietly confident of signing released Manchester City winger Martin Petrov.
The Bolton News understands that the Bulgaria international, released by Manchester City 11 days ago, has completed all the relevant medical checks but is yet to agree terms with the club.
It is thought that Aston Villa, Celtic and West Ham are also keen on the 31-year-old, although the Whites now appear to be in the driving seat.
Left-winger Petrov - a £5million signing for Sven-Goran Eriksson at Eastlands - made 72 appearances for City, scoring 12 goals.
He rejected a 12 month deal offered by Roberto Mancini to search for a longer contract elsewhere, but is thought to favour a stay in the Premier League.
