Bolton pressure force Hibs to open Fletcher talks

Hibs have moved to open new contract talks with Bolton Wanderers target Steven Fletcher.

The 20-year-old, who has scored seven goals in 13 appearances this season, was linked with a move to the Reebok Stadium.

Bolton have scored just 11 times in the Premier League this season and it was believed Gary Megson believed Shrewsbury-born Fletcher could be the answer to the Trotters' striking problems.

However, Hibernian are determined to keep hold of their top scorer and have now opened talks in a bid to get him to remain at Easter Road, according to Fletcher's agent Scott Fisher.

"We are in talks about a contract extension with Hibs for Steven," Fisher told Sky Sports. "Nothing has been agreed as yet and we are planning more talks next week.

"Steven is always going to be linked with other clubs as he is a promising player.

"At the moment he is a Hibs player and he is under contract there."
