Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan is confident they will be able to hang onto Nicolas Anelka beyond the January transfer window.
Avram Grant is ready to weigh in with a £10million bid when the transfer window re-opens and could face competition from Sven Goran Eriksson at Manchester City.
Well over £50m has been spent on the 28-year-old during his career and pals hope he is ready to end his nomadic existence and put down some roots.
Midfielder Nolan said: "I don't think he wants another big move, he's had enough of those.
"We've been having a bit of banter with him saying he can go to Chelsea but he won't score as many goals as he scores here.
"We want Nic to stay and hopefully the club can do their best to make sure he's here come the end of January.
"He never shows it if all the speculation about his future bothers him. He's a very laid-back character.
"He just gets on with his job and is a good lad to have around. He joins in the banter and must be enjoying his football here because he's scoring goals for Bolton Wanderers."
