Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is chasing Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson.

The Sun says Megson is ready to launch a £6million bid for former Manchester United winger Richardson.

The Bolton boss will be given cash to bring in at least three men next month and has earmarked Richardson, 24, as one of them.

Megson said: "I'd wager we have the smallest squad in the league. We desperately need more players."
