Bolton not losing out financially on crocked Holden

Bolton Wanderers have been right in keeping Stuart Holden on the books according to the Lion of Vienna Suite fan blog.

The 28-year old midfielder sustained yet another serious leg injury whilst playing for the USA at this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup, forcing him back to the rehab centre in order to get himself to full fitness for a third time in three years.

Holden, who is set to come out of contract with the Trotters at the end of the current season, was believed to be taking up valuable wages at the Reebok Stadium but it has since been revealed that FIFA's insurance policy makes that a non-issue.

The policy was introduced in the summer of 2012 and is designed to calm the club v country debate by paying insurance to any players injured on international duty. In this case, Bolton kept Holden on their books as they would not have to pay his salary during his absence from the pitch which is of great benefit to both club and player.
