James Harper admits he could quit relegated Reading this summer.
"I am happy to stay here so it is in the club's hands. I would never ask to leave or put in a transfer request. No matter what job you do you want to be at the top level."
Harper also told the Reading Evening Post: "I want to be at the top of my profession and I want to be the best I can and play against the best. I won't pretend I don't want to be playing in The Premier League, but I'm more than happy to stay here next season.
"I don't want to be in The Championship, but Reading are so I am prepared to come back for pre-season, graft and fight for the shirt and that's the way it should be.
"I have been here seven years and I have always given my all for Reading."
