Bolton are looking to bring in young Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck on a season-long loan.
The Trotters had success with Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge last season and now want the 20-year old England international to join them at the Reebok Stadium.
Welbeck spent last campaign with Sunderland but says he wants to stay at Old Trafford and try and break into the first team but with Sir Alex Ferguson having the likes of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen, Federico Macheda and Mame Biram Diouf at his disposal he could be forced to send the youngster away again.
Bolton look set to pounce although they may have competition from Sunderland as Steve Bruce reportedly wants him back at the Stadium of Light.
