Bolton go for Wigan's Scharner

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson has made a £2 million bid for Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner.

The Mirror says Scharner, 28, has been outstanding for Steve Bruce's side this season since signing a new contract, but Megson wants the versatile star as a centre half and midfielder.

Bruce could cash in on Scharner - Wigan's longest-serving outfield player - at the right price if he finds a replacement.
