Bolton Wanderers are leading the race for Manchester United winger Tom Cleverley.
The Mirror says Trotters boss Owen Coyle is talking to Sir Alex Ferguson about taking the England under-21 prospect on loan for the season and hopes to be able to land him in the next few days.
United are willing to let Bolton have Cleverley as long as Coyle assures Ferguson that he will be in his first-team plans to develop his talent and the Wanderers chief should be clear to speak to him soon.
Cleverley is highly-rated at United and impressed in a loan spell at Watford. Ferguson knows he needs to step up his number of games at the top level and will allow him to leave.
Newcastle have also come on strong for Cleverely, along with Stoke and Blackpool, but Bolton have emerged as clear favourites - partly because of the job Coyle did with Jack Wilshere when he was on loan from Arsenal.
