Bolton fans delighted with efforts of Coyle to engage them

The Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association have welcomed the efforts of manager Owen Coyle to engage fans.

Coyle and some of his players took part in a Q&A with the BWSA this week.

BWSA spokesman Dave Blackburn told the Bolton News: "I can't fault Owen since he took charge. He has been open, honest, and he seems to take a genuine interest in identifying with the fans, which is all we want.

"For him to turn up last week, take questions and then stay behind for photos and such is unheard of.

"He answered everything honestly, and while there are bound to be things he can't say, you at least felt he wanted to keep us in the loop a little bit.

"We asked Gary Megson to come to one of our meetings shortly after he took charge and he said 'no'. We even offered him a one-on-one, to see what he wanted us to do, but he didn't want to do it. I don't think that helped him one bit.

"You can see why Owen was so popular at Burnley, and I think he will prove exactly the same here.

"He put about 2,000 on the gate against Arsenal in his first game in charge, so if the club want to put bums on seats, then the way Owen is going about things seems like the right one."
