Bolton Wanderers defender Tim Ream has paid tribute to Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.

Ream, 25, who joined Bolton from New York Red Bulls, believes 33-year-old Howard has been a trailblazer for American players since joining Manchester United from the New York Metrostars in 2003.

Ream said: "It was a huge move to see an American playing for a club like that. It was eye-opening."
