Bolton defender Puygrenier: Call me Steak
Bolton Wanderers defender Sebastien Puygrenier admits he's called 'Steak' in his native France.
On-loan from Zenit St Petersburg, Puygrenier, 27, told The Sun: “My nickname is Steak. The first day I turned up at the Rennes youth academy, one of the other players said ‘Wow, look at the steak’.
“He saw me walking in, and maybe it was because I was a big boy. Ever since then, people have called me that.”
Puygrenier’s appearance and position in the team have led to him being compared to a couple of well-known old boys from the English top flight.
He added: “Seriously, I often get compared to Franck Leboeuf and Jaap Stam, obviously because of the way I look.
“But I’d be very happy if my career ended up resembling theirs.
“I hope to impose my game and my style and succeed with Bolton. I think the style of play in England will suit me better.”
