Bolton Wanderers defender Zat Knight believes England should introduce a winter break.

Several top European leagues have introduced a winter break to combat such problems, and provide a respite for players midway through the season.

And Knight would like to see a similar thing happen in England - claiming that the benefits would be there to see in the New Year.

"People talk about a Christmas break in the Premier League and maybe it should happen in a sense as this is when we get our bad weather in England," he said.

"I think it would be good for people recharging their batteries, good for the league, and I think people would have a bit more energy to go again for the second half of the season.

"But this is England, this is how it has always been, so you get on with it."
