Bolton Wanderers defender Zat Knight is backing teammate Gary Cahill to break into the England team.

"He just needs to keep plugging away and I think the opportunity will come for him," said the £4million summer signing, who was twice called up to the international fold under Sven Goran-Eriksson in 2005, in the Bolton News.

"I got in there at Fulham, one of the smallest clubs in the Premier League, and earned two caps. I'm sure the same can happen for Gary."
