Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill says England teammates Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll should go to the U21 Euros.
Arsenal midfielder Wilshere and Liverpool striker Carroll are both wanted for the tournament by England U21 coach Stuart Pearce.
Cahill admits his experiences at that level in the 2007 finals have stood him in good stead.
He told TheFA.com: "Having the experience at the different levels has been massive for me and everything you do is very similar all through the age groups.
"The way that you do things, the training and the style of play, is very similar so it definitely helps you.
"Obviously there's more pressure at senior level, but it has definitely stood me in good stead in terms of the Under-19s and Under-21s that I was involved with.
"The Under-21 finals in 2007 certainly did. As much as I didn't play as many games as I would have liked to, the general atmosphere and experience is pretty similar to the senior tournaments.
"Throughout the international set-up they structure it very similarly to the senior-set up so if you do get that call up you just fit in.
"Obviously the aim is to play in senior tournaments as that would be the pinnacle of your career."
