Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill admits he was happy to avoid a transfer deadline day move.
Arsenal and Tottenham failed to meet Bolton's asking price for the England international.
"Last-minute decisions aren't always the best and, in the end, there was no decision for me to make," he said.
"Then it was all about the preparation for this game. It was all a bit of a whirl, but I'm still employed by Bolton Wanderers so I'll just carry on. The manager didn't ask me if I was capable of focusing on the Bulgaria game, he just left me to my own devices. You have to be professional and mentally strong."
