Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill could be auditioning for a role with Chelsea tonight.
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has fitness concerns over Brazil international Alex, and is not convinced by the form of £18million compatriot Ramires, who joined the club from Benfica in the summer.
And while Owen Coyle is reluctant to lose the highly-rated defender next month, Chelsea's spending power would mean they could easily match the £17m buy out clause installed in the long-term contract he signed in the summer of 2009.
The Bolton News says Liverpool and Tottenham have been weighing up a move for Cahill in the last few months, although Ancelotti's revelation in the build-up to last night's game against Arsenal will have set alarm bells ringing in the Wanderers camp.
